25.05.2015

The foundation stone laying ceremony of the “Boulevard of Architects” Park took place on May 22 in Moscow, supported by R.I.M. Porter Novelli Agency. The Boulevard will be built in proximity to the House of Architect Student within the framework of the “People’s Park” Program.

The President of the Union of Moscow Architects Nikolay Shumakov, the Deputy Head of the Department of Housing and Utility Sector and Urban Land Improvement of Moscow Natalia Korablina, the Principal of the Moscow Institute of Architecture Dmitry Shvidkovsky, the President of the Russian Hockey Federation and the Deputy of the State Duma Vladislav Tretyak and the President of Vostok-Development Company Sergey Ivantsov took part in the event.

Natalia Korablina, Deputy Head of the Department of Housing and Utility Sector and Urban Land Improvement of Moscow, told about Moscow “People’s Parks”: “In 2013, our Department developed the concept of people’s parks with all-round support of the Moscow major. 108 such places have already appeared in Moscow in the past two years, and 53 places will appear in 2015. The construction of the majority of them, in particular, of 62 places, was implemented due to the support of the investors, whom we express our special gratitude. The idea to build the Boulevard of Architects is really brilliant because the Moscow inhabitants should know the names of those who designed their city!”

It is planned to install the monuments to the outstanding Moscow architects on the Boulevard. According to Dmitry Shvidkovsky, the Principal of the Moscow Institute of Architecture, the list of sculptures will be publicly discussed by the members of the Union of Architects, by the Moscow inhabitants and the Commission for Public Art of the Moscow State Duma, but it is already known that there will be the most influential names of the Russian architecture such as Bazhenov, Kazakov, Nikolaev, Leonidov, who are today’s figures of authority for the famous Western architects. “It is a really dear place for the Institute: almost 40 generations of architects from different Russian cities and other countries began their career here – there is a student dormitory”, he noted.

R.I.M. Porter Novelli Agency provided the informational support of the event, covered the activity of the Department of Housing and Utility Sector and Urban Land Improvement of Moscow in relation to the creation of “People’s Parks” in Moscow.
